[1] Copy, DLC-RTL.General Sickles, recuperating at Saratoga Springs, New York, wrote Lincoln on August 15, 1863, concerning the case of the Panoche Grande, California, Land Grant, in which Sickles had an interest. On October 23, Sickles submitted a further statement of facts and legal authorities, ``relied upon to establish the right of myself and associates, owners of the Estate known as the Panoche Grande, to a patent from the United States. . . .''
