Johnson telegraphed his reply at 9 P.M., ``Body of Capt Charles S Todd of Shelbyville Ky belonging to federal 6th Ky is here in metallic case awaiting transportation Your order in regard thereto will be promptly attended to'' (DLC-RTL). Captain Charles S. Todd, a relative of Mrs. Lincoln, had been killed in the Battle of Murfreesboro. See Lincoln to Johnson, January 10, infra.
