[1]   ALS, RPB; OR, I, XXII, II, 386. The ``following despatch'' is not with the autograph telegram but is reproduced as printed in the Official Records. The time of sending written on Lincoln's telegram is in hand of the telegraph operator. Schofield's reply was received at 8 P.M.: ``Your dispatch relative to arrest of slaves of rebels is received. I will attend to the matter immediately.'' (DLC-RTL).
