Chase on July 8, ``Orders are here for taking possession of Almaden mine by military force the result of such a move will be terrible. The secessionists will seize upon it as a pretext for a general uprising I fear See the President at once & have Genl Wright instructed by telegraph to withdraw action a delay of one day in the order may be fatal.''
