[1] ALS, RPB. Regimental Adjutant Justus B. Sheppard telegraphed on October 31, ``All the Maryland troops in this division have been ordered home to vote at the coming election and we the Second (2nd) E S Md Vols are exempt. We the officers and soldiers of the regt most earnestly and respectfully request that we may be granted the privilege to vote the unconditional Union ticket with our sister regiments. . . .''
