[1] ALS, RPB. On October 28-29, at Wauhatchie, Tennessee, ``about 12. p.m. rebels fell upon Geary, seeking to crush and capture him before succor could be brought up. The moonlight was almost as bright as day . . . and Geary . . . got timely warning. Howard, marching to the relief of Geary, was heavily struck . . . but his corps behaved splendidly. . . .
