[1] ALS, RPB. See Lincoln to Burnside and Boyle, October 20, supra. General Boyle telegraphed on October 23, ``George Woolfolk was tried & condemned for same offence at same time with Lee W. Long execution of whose sentence was indefinitely suspended by you What shall be done in case of Woolfolk, letter on the subject was addressed to Adjt Genl, October tenth (10) 1863.'' George Woolfolk was a private in the Confederate Army, condemned at the same time with Long. His sentence was remitted upon his taking the oath of allegiance (New York Tribune, November 4, 1863).
