Sir: Washington, Oct. 22. 1863.
I have so many appeals made to me by so very respectable people, in behalf of nearly a dozen Captains and Lieutenants of the 10th. New-York Cavalry, who have been summarily dismissed, that I will thank you to have these cases thoroughly re-investigated, and the facts reported to me. Yours truly
A. LINCOLN
