[1] ALS, IHi. Lieutenant Colonel Piatt, Schenck's chief of staff at Baltimore, telegraphed on October 20, ``Two young men very intelligent & reliable are here from Richmond which place they left last Tuesday. Shall I send them to you.'' (DLC-RTL). A letter from Piatt of the same date introduced the ``young men I telegraphed about'' without giving their names. (Ibid.).
