Ferry, be allowed to return home and vote in order to counteract the secession strength in the Sixth District. The Sixtieth Ohio, a one-year regiment enlisted about a year before, was ordered discharged on October 10, 1862. Representative Chilton A. White, Democrat and a strong opponent of administration policy, was returned to congress in the Sixth District.
