Sir. Washington, Sep. 9. 1862.
Father O'Hara, of Syracuse, New-York, coming to me well recommended by Hon. Daniel S. Dickinson, & others, as working earnestly & efficiently for our cause, with the people of his county & church, asks that his brother, Daniel O.Hara, who also has spent much time and money in the cause, may be made, a Brigadier Quarter Master, or Commissary. If such an officer is needed, I should be glad for Mr. O.Hara to be appointed. Yours truly
A. LINCOLN
