[1]   ALS, RPB. Burnside forwarded to Halleck and McClellan at 1 P.M. a dispatch from Colonel Thomas C. Devin, Barnett's Ford, 10 A.M., with news of ``heavy firing this morning, apparently in the direction of Brensville and being at this hour toward Warrenton.'' (OR, I, XII, III, 732). At 5:15 P.M. he forwarded to Halleck a dispatch from General Porter, Bristol, 6 A.M., which gave more details: ``Sigel had severe fight last night; took many prisoners. Banks is
