[1]   LS, DNA RG 217, General Accounting Office. This letter and that to Benjamin B. French infra are accompanied by invoices from T. J. Crowen of New York and William F. Richstein of Washington, booksellers, for books purchased for the Executive Mansion library. Lincoln paid for part of the books himself and authorized payment out of funds appropriated by congress for the remainder. For a complete analysis see Harry E.
