[1] LS, RPB. This telegram is in John Hay's handwriting, signed by Lincoln. On the bottom of the page is Hay's endorsement, ``Operator Please send above for President.'' Moody replied on the same day, ``Would prefer post Commissary if located at Springfield,'' and on August 22, declined appointment as commissary or quartermaster (DLC-RTL).
