Annotation

[1]   ALS, RPB. Boyle's dispatches to Stanton on July 13 reported Morgan's force at 2,800 to 3,000, and that requests for reinforcements from Buell remained unanswered. (OR, I, XVI, II, 736-37).

[2]   Halleck's dispatches on July 13, so far as they have been located, are dated at Corinth, Mississippi, but General George H. Thomas was operating at Tuscumbia, Alabama.
