[1]   AES, owned by H. K. Crofoot, Moravia, New York. Lincoln's endorsement is written below an endorsement by Montgomery C. Meigs, ``If Mr Botts is commissioned there will be no difficulty in finding employment for him as asst Quarter-Master where he can be useful to his country.'' Botts' appointment was confirmed on July 17, 1862.
