[1]   ALS, IHi. The following endorsement is signed on the bottom of the letter by Richard Yates, John Wood, and William Kellogg: ``We recommend A. J. Allen.'' Allen was nominated assistant quartermaster with rank of captain on June 19 and confirmed by the Senate on June 30, 1862.
