Our little disinterested woman of last year, is again upon me for the pardon of Isaac Lambert. I propose to the Attorney General, that the pardon be granted. A. LINCOLN
June 11, 1862.
Annotation
[1] AES, DNA RG 204, U.S. Pardon Attorney, A 354. See also Lincoln to Bates, October 15, 1861, supra. Lincoln's endorsement is written on a recommendation for pardon of Isaac Lambert, February 27, 1862, signed by George W. Garrett and henry M. Hurdle, two of the jurors who had convicted him on charges of larceny at the December, 1857, term of the Criminal Court of the District of Columbia. ``Our little disinterested woman'' was Mrs. Ellen V. McLane, who had written Bates on October 19, 1861, on Lambert's behalf (DLC-RTL). Lambert was pardoned June 19, 1862.
