Nov. 14. 1861. A. LINCOLN

Annotation

[1]   AES, DLC-RTL. Lincoln's endorsement is written on the back of a telegram received from William A. Barstow, Janesville, Wisconsin, November 13, 1861, asking why his authority to raise a cavalry regiment had been revoked. Cameron's reply, November 16, copied below Lincoln's endorsement, was that authority had been revoked ``by request of Investigating Committee after their session in St. Louis.'' Colonel Barstow's Third Wisconsin Cavalry was finally mustered into service January 31, 1862.
