Annotation
[1] AES, owned by L. E. Dicke, Evanston, Illinois. Lincoln's endorsement is written on a letter from Gustavus A. Seidel of New York, presenting a claim for expenses in recruiting a regiment (Lincoln Guards) in July, 1861, the order for recruiting having been revoked on August 10 before the regiment was full. No further record of the case has been found.
