[1] ES, RPB. The endorsement was written by John Hay and signed by Lincoln on a letter from Governor Andrew G. Curtin, May 5, 1862, recommending a promotion for Colonel George H. Crosman, quartermaster at Philadelphia and Schuylkil Arsenal. George H. Crosman was brevetted brigadier general October 1, 1862, for meritorious and faithful services in charge of depot of clothing and equipment at Philadelphia.
