To-day Mr. Senator Wright introduces a Committee of Citizens of this District consisting of William Dixon, William Wise, Henry Lee, Reuben Bacon, Henry D. Gannell [Grinnell?], W.J. Murta[u]gh, James H. Lusby who asks the appointment of George W. Garrett as Warden of Penitentiary. A. LINCOLN.

[1] Tracy, p. 206. Senator Joseph A. Wright of Rockville, Indiana, was appointed to fill the vacancy in the Senate caused by expulsion of Senator Jesse D. Bright and served from February 24, 1862 to January 14, 1863. No further record concerning the appointment of George W. Garrett has been found.
