I personally know Julius White, and that he is worthy. Having successfully commanded a Brigade at Pea Ridge, I think he should be made a Brigadier General. A. LINCOLN

[1]   AES, IHi. Lincoln's endorsement appears on a letter from Representative Isaac N. Arnold, April 22, 1862, requesting appointment of Colonel Julius White, Thirty-seventh Illinois Volunteers, as a brigadier general. White was nominated brigadier general of Volunteers on April 22, and was confirmed by the Senate on June 9, 1862.
