Lincoln's endorsement is written on a letter of recommendation signed by Governor William Dennison and others for the appointment of Colonel A. E. Jones ``late Aid-de-Camp to Governor Dennison'' as a brigadier general of Volunteers to be assigned to command of Camp Dennison at Cincinnati. The letter also bears John A.
