[1]   DS, DNA RG 233, Original Executive Document No. 99. The resolution requesting ``any information which may have been received at the Department of State showing the system of revenue and finance in any foreign countries'' is in the House Journal under date of April 3 rather than April 4, as Lincoln designates it. On April 9, Lincoln's communication and the copy of James S. Pike's letter of March 12, 1862, summarizing the methods of taxation in the Netherlands, were referred to the Committee on Ways and Means and ordered to be printed.
