[1]   Nodle Book Nook Catalog (1940), No. 17. According to the catalog description this letter was written at the request of George Ashmun. This incomplete text is all that is available. Captain Asher R. Eddy of Rhode Island served as quartermaster for Illinois and Wisconsin, at Springfield, from September 27, 1861, to January 25, 1862. On February 27, 1862, Jesse K. Dubois telegraphed Lincoln, ``In defiance of your authority Quartermaster Eddy is still here and is making mischief I urge that he & all his Assistants be immediately sent away.'' (DLC-RTL).
