[1] AES, DNA RG 204, U.S. Pardon Attorney, A 334. Lincoln's endorsement is written on an envelope containing letters from John J. Crittenden and others asking a pardon for Tunstall G. Carter of Kentucky, convicted of stealing stamped envelopes and sentenced to twenty years' imprisonment. There is no further record of Lincoln's action.
