[1]   DS, DNA RG 46, Senate 37A F2; DS, DNA RG 233, House of Representatives Original Executive Document No. 78. The enclosed correspondence concerned the seizure on December 26, 1861, of the Jorgen Lorentzen in the Gulf of Mexico. Lieutenant Henry T. Moore, commanding the Morning Light, believed the Danish ship was trying to run the blockade into New Orleans. Moses Taylor, U.S. referee, and Horace Dollner, Danish consul at New York, awarded damages of $1,850, an appropriation for which amount was approved April 25.
