Memorandum. Executive Mansion March 14. 1862

To-day I nominated the ten cadets at large and one for the District of Columbia---for this year.

I have concluded that the next three I nominate shall be as follows---

One for Gov. Seward.

One for Mr. Sec. Welles

One for H. T. Duncan of Kentucky, his candidate's name being

``Thomas Collins, Timberlake''

I wish Mr. Nicolay to keep this, and call my attention to it whenever I have an appointment to make. A. LINCOLN

Annotation

[1]   ADS, DLC-RTL. Henry Timberlake Duncan was a lawyer of Paris, Kentucky. No record of the appointment of either Thomas Collins or Thomas Collins Timberlake has been found.
