In transmitting to Congress the accompanying copy of two letters, bearing date the 14th of February, 1861, from his Majesty the Major King of Siam to the President of the United States, and of the President's answer thereto, I submit for their consideration the question as to the proper place of deposit of the gifts received with the royal letters referred to. ABRAHAM LINCOLN.

A joint resolution approved March 15 provided that the letter from His Majesty the Major King of Siam and the accompanying gifts (a sword and scabbard, a photograph of the king, and a pair of elephant tusks) ``be deposited in the collection of curiosities at the Department of the Interior.''
