To the Senate of the United States: February 7, 1862

In answer to the resolution of the Senate of the 5th instant, requesting a communication of any recent correspondence relating to the presentation of American citizens to the court of France, I transmit a copy of a despatch of the 14th ultimo, from the United States minister at Paris, to the Secretary of State, and of an instruction of Mr. Seward to Mr. Dayton, of the 3d instant.
