[1] Stan. V. Henkels Catalog 1442, April 10, 1930, No. 82. According to the catalog description Lincoln's endorsement is written on the back of a letter from Surgeon General Clement A. Finley, February 5, recommending Pendleton's appointment. Lincoln had recommended Dr. Pendleton to Secretary Cameron on November 7, 1861 (supra), but the appointment was not made until April 4, 1862.
