This man William Martin, it seems has been imprisoned on some charge of suspicion of kidnapping and as Senator Pomeroy and Hon. Green Adams ask his release, let him be released.

Annotation

[1]   Copy, DNA WR RG 107, Secretary of War, Letters Received, P 35, Irregular Book 5. The copy is in the register of letters received, but Lincoln's original manuscript is missing from the file. Green Adams of Kentucky was auditor of the Treasury for the Post Office Department. William Martin has not been identified.
