Within is the list of persons whom Gen. T.F. Meagher wishes appointed to his staff. He is very anxious, & I promised him to urge compliance so far as consistent with the service. Please have Adjt. Genl. look to it. A. LINCOLN

Annotation
[1] AES, owned by Arnold Goldsborough, Wilmington, Delaware. Meagher recommended Sergeant Joseph McCoy of the Fifth Cavalry for his assistant adjutant general and Dr. Francis Reynolds as his brigade surgeon. McCoy had saved Meagher's life at Bull Run, and Dr. Reynolds, ``Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin. . . Brigade and Division Surgeon all through the Crimean War,'' was acting as ``Surgeon of the 4th. Regt. of the Irish Brigade.''
