[1] AES, owned by Carl E. Dorr, Fayetteville, New York. Lincoln's endorsement is written on a telegram from General Henry W. Halleck to George B. McClellan, requesting appointment of Lieutenant Colonel William S. Ketchum as brigadier general. McClellan endorsed ``I respectfully recommend Col Ketchum as a Brig Genl.'' Ketchum was appointed February 3, 1862.
