[1] AES-P, ISLA. Colonel Alfred T. A. Torbert of the First New Jersey Volunteers was appointed brigadier general to rank from November 29, 1862. The appointment, rejected by the Senate on February 12, 1863, and again on March 12, was confirmed by the Senate on March 13, 1863. Colonel Torbert was on sick leave January to June, 1863.
