[1]   AGO General Orders No. 170; OR, II, IV, 662. Sely Lewis was found guilty by a military commission in Memphis, Tennessee, July 28, 1862, on charges of smuggling goods through the lines and violation of the fifty-seventh Article of War. The commission further expressed conviction that Lewis was a spy and recommended that he be hanged.
