To-day Gen. Michael Corcoran, calls and asks that Morgan Doheny, now a Lieuten[an]t in the 42nd. New-York vols, may be a Lieutenant in the regular Army. There are special reasons for this, and perhaps the rule might be departed from in so low a place as a 2nd. Lieut. I wish to oblige Gen. Corcoran; the Sec. of War will oblige me if he will find a way to do it. Yours truly A. LINCOLN
