[1]   AES, owned by Richard F. Lufkin, Boston, Massachusetts. Lincoln's endorsement is written on the back of a letter from James C. Conkling, recommending that a regiment raised by William O. Jones in Sangamon, Morgan, Scott, and Menard counties in Illinois, be accepted. William O. Jones resigned as lieutenant colonel of the Forty-sixth Illinois Infantry shortly after it was mustered in December, 1861.
