Mr. John A. Ford, as is seen by the within papers is or was well recommended by his neighbors for post master at Petersburg. The change of sentiment since then has driven him from his home and he now seeks the appointment of second lieutenant in the army. I hope it can be conveniently given him. A. LINCOLN.
