Endorsement: Meredith Helm to Lincoln1Jump to section

I wish Mr. Thomas Mustin, and Mr. Jones, named within, may retain their places, for the present, at least. A LINCOLN

March 25. 1861.

Annotation

[1]   AES, RPB. Dr. Meredith Helm of Springfield, Ilinois, wrote a letter on March 20, 1861, introducing ``Thomas Mustin, and Mr. Thos. Jones, the former my brother in law, the latter his son in law,'' and asking that they be permitted to retain their respective offices. Mustin held a clerkship in the fifth auditor's office and Jones a clerkship in the census office.
