Donald McClennan wrote, January 31, 1861, ``I desire to present . . . an union grey shawl, made of California wool and the first manufactured in this State, together with a pair of family blankets of our manufacture, at the Chrysopolis Mills, Mission Dolores San Francisco. . . .
