Annotation

[1]   AES, IHi. Lincoln's endorsement is written on a letter from Joshua F. Speed, October 18, 1861, requesting that a regiment of cavalry under ``Col. Bowles'' (probably William M. Bolles, colonel of the Second West Virginia Cavalry), stationed at Parkersburg, West Virginia, be sent to Kentucky and assigned to Jeremiah T. Boyle's brigade.
