By the Grace of God and the Constitution of the Spanish Monarchy, Queen of Spain,
&c., &c., &c.
Great and Good Friend: I have received the letter which Your Majesty was pleased to address to me on the 12th. of August, last, conveying the melancholy tidings of the decease of Her Royal Highness the Infanta Dona Maria de Regla, Your Majesty's niece.
I participate in the grief occasioned by this sad event and offer to Your Majesty and to your royal household my sincere condolence.
May God have Your Majesty always in His safe and holy keeping! Your Good Friend, ABRAHAM LINCOLN.
