[1]   ALS, RPB. John C. Henshaw of New York City had sent Lincoln a copy of a book by his father-in-law, Edward Kellogg, Labor and Other Capital: the RightsPage  519 of Each Secured and the Wrongs of Both Eradicated, New York, 1849 (DLC-RTL).

[2]   Blinn is identified in Henshaw's letter as ``of McLean County Bank,'' Bloomington, Illinois.

[3]   Henshaw had met Lincoln at Clinton, Illinois, in the fall of 1859.
