[1]   Janesville Morning Gazette, October 4, 1859. Lincoln spoke in Janesville at night, traveling by carriage from Beloit after his speech in the afternoon. In reporting the speech the Gazette explained that ``Of the several points made we select only one, and this we cannot give in the author's own words, as we took no notes.''
