If the case is as stated within, I will attend to the case in the Supreme court for ten dollars. A. LINCOLN.

Annotation

[1]   ALS, IHi. The note was written on the last page of Phelps' letter and returned to Phelps, Lincoln keeping the portion which described the case. Salmon A. Phelps, of Greenville, Illinois, as attorney for John A. Smith, had lost the case in the Bond County Circuit Court. Isaac Smith had sued his uncle John A. Smith, both of Greenville, Illinois, for a buggy which Isaac had won on an election bet from one George Moffett, but which Moffett had sold to John A. Smith before Isaac could get possession.
