To William Brown and Richard Yates [1]

Messrs. Brown & Yates Washington,
Gentlemen: Feb. 19. 1849

Your letter, enclosing the papers for Bounty land & Extra pay for Mrs. Eliza Pearson, was received saturday night. This (monday)Page  28 morning I went to the Pension office, filed the Bounty land papers; went to the Pay Master, and had the claim for extra pay rejected, because the proof of two witnesses that Mrs. Pearson, is the widow of the soldier---which proof, they say, is indispensable. I went back to the Pension office to see if the papers left there might not supply the proof, but the office was so full, I could get no chance. I shall try it again tomorrow morning. Yours as ever
