Annotation
[1] Although these surveys were at one time together, only the second has been located, in the Ford's Theatre Museum, Washington, D. C. Fortunately Herndon made copies of both, and the text of the first is taken from the copy in the Herndon-Weik Collection. A note in the same collection by William Green maintains that the survey of November 17 was the last Lincoln ever made.
