[1]   AD, I-Ar. The bill was introduced on January 9, 1836, by William Brown, representative from Tazewell and McLean counties, but was written forPage  47 Brown by Lincoln (sections 1-4) and John T. Stuart (sections 5-6). The bill was passed without amendment and appears in Laws of Illinois, 1836, pp. 206-207.

[2]   Stuart changed Lincoln's ``May'' to ``Aprile.''

[3]   Stuart changed Lincoln's ``shall'' to ``may.''
